Crossing and Finishing Drill

By Lawrence Fine, Author of the FineSoccer Coaching Bible.

Welcome to the FineSoccer Drills Newsletter.  Today’s featured activity works on wing play as well as crossing and finishing.

Start with a keeper in goal, and two grids set up from the side of the 18 to the sideline on each side.  There is a 2 v 1 set up in each of these grids and another 2 v 1 in the 18.

One wide group starts and the two attacking players are trying to serve a ball into the two attacking players in the middle for an opportunity to score.

The defender is trying to delay as long as possible and, if possible, win the ball.

As soon as the play is over, the three players in the middle replace the group that just went on the side and the group that went on the side, goes to the middle and play starts from the opposite side

Once the ball is served and finished, those players switch areas as well.  By doing this players get works from both sides as well as in finishing in the middle.  Make sure to rotate the defenders so they get the opportunity to attack as well

Have a great day!
