Shot Blocking from Different Angles

By Lawrence Fine, Author of the FineSoccer Coaching Bible.

Welcome to the Goalkeeping Newsletter. Today’s featured activity works on shotblocking from different angles.

Start with two servers with balls on the 18, each even with a goal post. There is a keeper in goal and another keeper waiting on the side of the goal.

gk272a

The first server starts by shooting low to his near post.

gk272b

The keeper dives and makes the save.

gk272c

As soon as the save is made the keeper has to get up as the same server then shoots low to the far post.

gk272d

The keeper scrambles across the goal mouth and dives to make the save.

gk272e

The keeper has to get up quickly because as soon as the save is made, the other server is shooting low to his far post.

gk272f

The keeper has to scramble across the goal mouth and dive to make the save.

gk272g

The keeper has to get up for the fourth shot hit to the second servers near post.

gk272i

These are 4 shots in a very short period of time. When the keeper makes the 4th save, the servers get the balls back and the next keeper goes.

Do this 2 times for each keeper and then do the same but instead of low balls, do high balls (2 sets each).

Have a great day!
