Recovering For Rebounds

By Lawrence Fine, Author of the FineSoccer Coaching Bible.

Welcome to the Goalkeeping Newsletter. Today’s featured activity works on shot blocking and getting up quickly for rebounds.

Start with a keeper in goal, a server at the top of the 18 and two other servers on angles. Each of the servers has a few balls.

The server in the middle starts by shooting toward either of the posts.

The keeper dives and makes the save (hopefully)

As soon as the save is made (whether a parry or a hold) the keeper has to get up quickly because the server on that side will be shooting the next ball

gk187d

The keeper makes the save and then gets back to the middle for the next shot from the server. This shot will go to the other corner and the same thing happens in the other direction

Do this for 5 sets to each side and then put a new keeper in goal.

Have a great day!
