Different Types of Combination Play

By Keith Scarlett

This activity works on combination play.

Set-up: Half of the team is in a circle without balls. The other half is inside the circle with balls.
The players jog around doing random combinations with players on the outside.

Combination 1: Wall-pass – Inside player plays the ball to an outside player then sprints away and receives it back. Go for 2 minutes and then switch the inside and outside players.

Combination 2: Inside spin-off – Inside player plays the ball to an outside player then spins off and receives it back Go for 2 minutes and then switch the inside and outside players.

Combination 3: Take-over/Wall-pass – Inside player does a take-over with an outside player then does a wall-pass with that outside player. Go for 2 minutes. Players switch roles in the combination.
