Coming Forward on Dives

By Lawrence Fine, Author of the FineSoccer Coaching Bible.

Welcome to the Goalkeeping Newsletter. Today’s featured activity works on coming forward on dives.

Start with a rectangle that us 8 yards wide and 4 yards deep. There is a keeper in the middle of the rectangle and a server, with a ball, on each end line, 10 yards away.

One server starts by playing a ball to a cone. The keeper must get out of the rectangle, dive and make the save in front of the cone.

The keeper then returns the ball, turns and has to do the same thing from the other server.

The keeper then does the same thing from the first server but the other side.

The keeper then makes the save from the second server, second side.

The keeper makes a save at each cone as one rep. He does a total of 2 reps, then rests for a minute and then does another 2 reps.

The emphasis is on coming forward on dives to make sure the save is made in front of each cone.

Have a great day!
