Ball Orientated Conditioning

During the summer I spend some time combing through new training ideas for the upcoming year. As I begin to assemble my training calendar for the fall I'm always on the lookout for economical drills and exercises that incorporate conditioning aspects along with technical and tactical elements. With only two days of training per week, I don't want to spend 30 minutes just training conditioning to get my players fit for soccer again after the summer break.

With my older teams (U13 to U18) I hold a series of preseason conditioning sessions to give the players a base of fitness that we can work from. With my younger teams (U8 to U12) I combine fitness with almost all of the technical work we do early in the season to provide this base.

A new set of videos that we've just released from Soccer Conditioning Specialist, Justin Cresser, has given me a number of new ways to approach conditioning with a ball. By now most coaches understand the importance of combining conditioning with technical and tactical elements but finding new ideas and ways to approach these topics is something that we're all looking for.

Here is a short clip from one of Cresser's sessions that focuses on developing anaerobic and aerobic endurance with a ball.

This is just one of many ideas presented by Cresser in his most recent videos: Developing Explosive Power and Developing Anaerobic and Aerobic Endurance.

If you're looking for some new ideas to freshen up your coaching next fall I'd suggestion getting these videos. You have six months to receive a refund if you don't want to have continued access to the videos so there's no risk to having a look.

Have a great day!

Tom
