Activities for Developing Quick Feet and Reactions

By Danny Carvalho,

For goalkeepers, having quick feet makes a great difference in performing big and standing out from the average shot stopper, opening doors for big stages and chase greatness!

This activity is designed to have them not only developing feet quickness but as well as quick reactions to sound commands.

Have four different coloured cones side to side in the six yards line as displayed in the diagram below.

As the coach shouts out a color, the GK must quickly touch one foot on that cone and sprint back to make a save.

Have each goalkeeper perform three rounds in a row and then rest.

At least six sets for each goalkeeper with proper rest in between sets.

Variation 1:
Instead of shouting out the color, shouting out a number.

Variation 2:
Mix the numbers randomly to make it harder.
