1v1 Drills To Improve Shooting Chances

By Lawrence Fine, Author of the FineSoccer Coaching Bible.

Welcome to the FineSoccer Drills Newsletter.  Today’s featured activity works on 1 v 1 to get a shot hit.

Start with a keeper in goal, a defender on the top of the 18, an attacker on the top of the D and a server, with balls, just outside the D.

The server starts by playing the ball to the feet of the attacker.

As soon as the attacker touches the ball it’s a 1 v 1 situation but the players are limited to the D.  The attacker has 5 seconds to get the shot hit.

If the ball leaves the D (except for the shot) te play is dead.  If the defender wins the ball, the play is dead.  The attacker gets 1 point for hitting a shot, 2 points for a shot that is on goal and 5 points for a goal.  The attacker gets 10 opportunities and then the players switch roles.  The player with the most points wins.

You might want to consider having the server move around so the attacker gets accustomed to dealing with balls from different angles.

Have a great day!
