This week's exercises are from our latest book, 2 v 1 Attacking Drills & Exercises
In square A, the attacker labeled A passes the ball to attacker B just as they did in the first Double Pass Pattern. The difference is the return pass from player B to player A, which is not straight back but is now laid back diagonally.
The return pass is shown in Square A1 and is numbered with a 1. Attacker A steps forward to the diagonal pass, this run is numbered 2, as attacker B spins away from the direction of the ball and then around the defender into the space directly in front of the ball. This run is also numbered with a 2 and moves around defender C. It is very similar to the Flick and Spin move up field.
In Square A2 this allows attacker A to send a straight split pass behind the defenders C and D. The pass from attacker A is numbered with a 1 and the continuation of attacker B’s run is also shown with a 1.
Square A3 simply shows how the final picture would look with the defenders chasing attacker B who is dribbling forward. The dribble is numbered with a 1.
