Tactical Exercise

This week's exercises are from our book, 'One Setup Training'

Tactical Exercise

Attack the 2nd time of the ball. Each group is divded into two teams (one attacking and one defending) with one free player and the goalkeeper added.Attackers pass the ball among themselves until coach's whistle, then they pass the ball to the goalkeeper and he passes to the free player. The attackers must take big pressure to win the ball before the free player can pass to defenders. If they win the ball they can shoot on goal.

Defenders can be active inside the cone only.If defenders win the ball, they play 4+1 vs 4 to bring it beyond the end line.

Variations:

  • The ball can be passed directly to the free player to limit the time for pressure
  • One defender can go out of the center space to put pressure on to attackers
  • Turn roles after a period of time
  • Eye on:
  • Quality of passes and players' movements
  • Skills to create space and passing chances for teammates
  • Reaction speed to put pressure
