Futsal and Goalkeeping

By Josh Jones-Keen -

Futsal is fast and furious game; these sessions come from Futsal and can be used and adapted to work on Keepers reactions and speed.

GK22-1

Keeper starts with quick feet to each cone at the side of the goal, before making save at near post. Then they sidestep across goal to make top corner save on far post.  From there the Keeper must mirror the coach. The coach will move back and forward between footballs, when ready the coach will prepare to strike the ball. The Keeper must get ready to make a save, the coach will then feint and go to another ball. After about 5 goes move on to the ball being struck at the far post. The trigger for this shot is the coach shouting ‘Go!’

GK22-2

This drill starts with the Keeper touching the cone at a post. As soon as they are up from touching the post the ball is struck towards the other post for the save to be made. Then keeper then rushes the player with ball at feet.
