Objective
This session will focus on set plays within the theme of scenarios. The players will be challenged within a range of set plays from both a defending and attacking position. They will manage, organize and plan for each of these.
Set Up
• There are two teams, ideally 11v11
• One team will deliver the attacking plays first and one team with defend them
• It is often good to continue this after a training game has been carried out, so that the score from the game can be carried into this. i.e. 2-1 to the team in red.
• There is a more competitive and realistic approach when there is something to play. This will also influence and have an impact on how each of the team approaches, manages and organizes the different situations
• The coach can decide the number of sets plays carried out. An example might be:
• Corners – See Diagram 1
• 3xcorners from the left and 3x from the right
• Wide Free kicks – See Diagram 2
• 3x free kicks from the left and 3x from the right
• Central free kicks – See Diagram 3
• 4x Central free kicks
• 2x Penalties
• The game is live until the ball is out of play or the ball is cleared beyond the half way line
