3 v 3 to Targets

The images this week are from our book, 'Coaching Soccer Through Small-Sided Games'

3 v 3 + Target Player

Teams play 3 v 3 in a 20 x 20-yard grid. Each team has a target player in an “end zone” at each end of the grid. Teams play keep-away for eight three-minute games.

Coaching Points

  • Keep ball
  • Change direction
  • Unbalance defense
  • Only use target players when needed
  • Target players receive, then drive into the grid and commit defenders (target player rotates with passer from the grid)
