Goalkeeper Warm-Up

By Lawrence Fine, Author of the FineSoccer Coaching Bible.

Welcome to the Goalkeeping Newsletter. Today’s featured activity is a simple warm up that works on collapse dives, high balls and footwork.

Start with a keeper and a server. The server is 10 yards in front of the keeper with a ball.

The server throws a ball to the keepers side and the keeper dives to make the easy save

The keeper gets up and quickly returns the ball to the server

The server then tosses a big ball behind the keeper.

The keeper has to get back behind the ball and then come forward to go up and catch it.

The keeper then returns the ball and the server plays a ball to the other side for another collapse dive.

This is done 5 times to each side so there are 5 dives to the right, 5 dives to the left and 10 high balls.

This is an easy warm up but there is a nice emphasis on footwork to get back quickly to get up and attack the high ball.

Have a great day!
