Active Possession Drill

Welcome to the FineSoccer Drills Newsletter. Today’s featured activity works on quick passes, accuracy, footwork and more

Start with three players in a triangle approximately 15 yards apart. One player has a ball.

The players start by passing to each other one touch so that the ball goes from one to the next to the next. The key is, every pass must be perfect. If they are passing clockwise, the ball must go to the receiving players left foot.

Do this for 2 minutes and then switch directions so the ball is going counter clockwise. Now the ball must be played to the receiving players right foot.

drills222c

Do this for 2 minutes.

Next we add a simple chop to take this from a one touch passing activity to a two touch passing activity.

We go back to clockwise passing. The passes are made to the receiving players left foot and that player chops the ball back to his right foot and passes with the right. This is a quick chop and then pass.

Do this for 2 minutes and then switch directions.

Next you can have the pass made to the left foot but intercept it with the outside of the right foot so you chop with the outside of of the right foot and then pass with the inside of the right foot.

Do the same in the opposite direction.

There are many other variations and you can also have the players toss the ball to the next player for headers, volleys etc

Have a great day!
