Welcome to the Goalkeeping Newsletter. Today’s featured activity is a simple warm up for 2 (or more) keepers.
Start with 6 balls (for 2 keepers, if 3 keepers use 8 balls) making two 4 x 4 squares. A keeper starts in each square and there are servers 10 yards from each square with balls.
One of the servers is designated as the caller and he can call “front left”, “front right”, “back left”, “back right” or “shot”.
If the call is “front right” the keepers take a short step and then dive toward the ball in front and to the right.
If the call is “front left” the keepers take a short step and then toward the ball in front and to the right.
If the call is “back right” the keeper goes back and touches the back right ball and then comes back to the middle (while facing the ball the whole time).
If the call is “back left” the keeper goes back and touches the back left ball and then comes back to the middle (while facing the ball the whole time).
[wpsharely id="821"][/wpsharely]If the call is “shot” the server shoots a ball right at the keeper.
This is a nice warm up activity to help the keeper stay on balance, come forward on dives and good footwork.
Have a great day!
