Dominating the Midfield to Create Scoring Opportunities Part Two

Part Two

That penalty, which was saved, demonstrated that Watford were putting the pressure on Watford in the midfie ld and was evident again leading up to their first goal.

Watford find themselves high up the field in Man U’s defensive half when the Man U defensive line has trouble getting the ball under control.

Gaining control and already having a numerical advantage, Watford are able to quickly gain control and move into an attacking phase high up the pitch by getting the ball to a wide open player who is able to move the ball up the field and put in a arching ball that is eventually brought down and put into the goal for the first goal of the game.

By Watford setting this tempo and pressure from the beginning of the game, Manchester United was on the back foot, and although their overall performance was also less than what is expected, Watford used the midfield to put in a strong performance.
