Session 1
Diagram 1
Set Up
- Using the set up as above. Working within an area of approx 20x 30yds
- 2 Opposing players in the middle, with 4 players on the outside
2 Players on the outside are target players and 2 players on the side are support players - 1 player in the middle will attack and the other player will defend (the coach can decide on the length of time i.e. 60 secs)
- Players will then switch with 2 players on the outside
- The objective for the attacking player is to play the ball from one end player to the other
- The target players are on 2 touch whereas the support players on the side are on 1 touch
- There is no restriction on touches for the players inside
Progressions
- The ball can not be played back to the same target man by the middle player without another player touching the ball
- Restrict the number of touches for the players in the middle (2 touch or 1 touch)
- The attacking player must use both supporting players before playing into the end target player
Coaching Points
- 1st movement to create space. Take the defender away from the ball to create space for the attacker to receive the ball
- 1st touch to take ball away from defender toward next pass
