One-Touch Passing For Speed and Movement

By Lawrence Fine, Author of the FineSoccer Coaching Bible.

Welcome to the FineSoccer Drills Newsletter. Today’s featured activity works on 1 touch passing with movement

Start with 4 players positioned in a rectangle that is 30 x 15 and 2 other players in the middle.

The player in the top left hand corner (player 1) starts with a ball and begins by passing to player 2 and then making a run to receive a wall pass.

Player 1 then passes to player 3 and heads back to where he started.

Player 3 then passes to player 2 (who comes to meet the ball).

Player 3 goes to where player 2 was and player 2 plays a ball to player 4 and then overlaps.

Player 4 passes to player 5 who then plays the ball back to player 2.

Player 4 takes the spot where player 3 first started.

Player 2 then passes to player 6 and 5 checks toward 6 to receive a pass.

Player 5 passes to player 1 and player 6 heads toward where player 5 started.

Player 5 overlaps player 1 who then goes toward where player 6 started and they start over again.

This is a very fast moving activity where after each pass there is at least one sprint and everything is done one touch.

You will most likely have to walk a group through this activity a few times for them to get it but once they do it’s an excellent activity to work on passing, overlaps, wall passes and movement

Have a great day!
