Fun Olympic Style Training Session

By Danny Carvalho

It is hard to find someone who doesn’t get excited about the Olympics! And if you work with kids, it is your job to talk about it and introduce some different sports to your kids knowledge. So how about mix soccer with some other sports?

Warm Up – Activity 1
This is ST&F: Soccer track and field! Some relay races using a good amount of creativity will help you to work on the team’s dribbling skills and SAQ!

Your kids might even have the chance to participate in the Olympic torch relay (grab a tall cone, hold it upside down and place a ball on top)!

Activity 2
Target archery or Shot on target? Anyway you want to call it, players are going to have a blast!

All you need is one ball per team, a set shooting area and some tall cones. Their goal is to knockdown all of their cones first to win the gold medal! Don’t forget to award the second team with a silver medal and the third with the bronze!

Activity 3
Soccer basketball! Find a box, a bucket, a hoop hanging somewhere or even on the ground. Have your players work on their “chipping” the ball skill to score points for their team!
