Dutch Square with Give-and-Go and Diagonal Pass

There's no rotation – after a period of time, have players exchange inside and outside positions.

Change the direction of the drill after a period of time.Have extra balls available to keep the drill flowing.

Organization - The sequence for this drill is: A short, quick 1-2,Followed by a deep, diagonal ball. Then a square pass.Then the pattern repeats itself.

Coaching Points

  • Speed of play is emphasized in the short, quick 1-2 at the beginning of the play
  • The diagonal ball must be driven and accurate
  • Good approach to the driven ball
  • Clean first touch on the receiving end
  • Open up and play the ball square, off the back foot
  • Lay-off pass must be weighted properly
  • Keep the tempo high
