Welcome to the FineSoccer Drills Newsletter. Today’s featured activity works on turning and the decision making on how to turn.
Start with a keeper in goal, a server 45 yards out with balls and a target player starts at the top of the D. There are other players waiting to take the place of the target player.
The target player checks away and then comes to the server.
The server plays a ball hard to the players feet.
The player turns with the ball and shoots on goal.
As soon as the shot is hit the next player steps in and does the same thing.
Sometimes the player turns with the ball right at his feet and hits the quick shot and then other times the player turns with the ball being redirected on an angle and then follows the ball and then shoots. The first type of turn would be done when he has space and the second type is when there is a defender on his back.
Next we add a defender to the activity.
Sometimes the defender stays tight on the player so the player has to turn with a redirect.
[wpsharely id="1204"][/wpsharely]Other times the defender stays off the player so he can make a quick turn and a shot.
After each player has had a few opportunities to do the various type of turns the next step is for the defender to be live and really make the player work to get his turn.
The objective of this activity is to make sure the players know the different type of turns but just as importantly, to know when they should do the various turns.
Have a great day!
