A Four-Keeper Warm-Up Game

By Lawrence Fine, Author of the FineSoccer Coaching Bible.

Welcome to the Goalkeeping Newsletter. Today’s featured activity is a 4 keeper warm up.

Start with 4 keepers in a 30 x 30 area.  One keeper starts with the ball in his hands and the others are jogging around.  You can alter the size of the area and the number of keepers.

The keeper with the ball rolls the ball, hard. to one of the other keepers.  Before rolling the ball the keeper calls the name of the keeper he is rolling to.

The receiving keeper goes forward to meet the ball and picks it up.  He then chooses one of the other keepers and rolls the ball to him and this keeps going

Each of the keepers keeps moving and they must emphasize receiving the ball properly at all times.

After a couple of minutes they will do the same thing but now they roll the ball further away from the keeper (to the side) and now the keeper dives to make the “save”.
